Interpretation of lions in Daniel in the den of lions

First we will see the mastery of the lions. It is mentioned that the lions brake all the bones of the people thrown to them even before they (people) could reach the bottom of the den!

‘And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den’ (Daniel 6:24)

Daniel survived after spending a night among such lions.

Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him…Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him. Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

Then was the king exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God’
(Daniel 6:14-23)

What do these lions stand for in today’s context? And what was the secret of Daniel’s survival?

Lion are lion like powerful people in our life. We can see how people are being destroyed by these lion like people. They have so much power & authority through which they indeed do anything. It is in front of such people we see people bowing & becoming spineless & becoming men pleasers out of fear.

Such are bowing before such powerful people to receive favor from them and being in their good books. They know no other option apart from bowing before them. The rule is just doing your job is not enough. You have to do more. And that more is only this, being men pleasers or yes men.

Such are bowing before these lion like people because they have failed to know another lion called The Lion of Judah.

‘…behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof’ (Revelation 5:5)

Daniel knew about this Lion of Judah & he bowed his knees 3 times every day before it & also lived a very upright life.

So if one really knows God & has developed belief in him through personal experience, then such won’t bow before lion like people in their life as they are already bowing before another greater lion.

For such God would send his angel to bind the mouth of these small lions so that they can cause no harm on such faithful servant of God.
